The long marathon session which lasted from Sunday afternoon until the early hours of Monday in the Parliament of Kosovo, was associated with strong debates in regards to the agreement that the Premier of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci and his Serbian counterpart, Ivica Dacic signed in Brussels upon the intermediacy of Baroness Catherine Ashton.
The parliamentary session was concluded with the ratification of the agreement with Serbia. Meanwhile, the Government of Kosovo approved this agreement on Monday during the cabinet meeting.
The resolution was passed with 89 votes in favor, 5 against and 1 abstain. The resolution consists of the endorsement of the first agreement with Serbia and its implementation.
Activists from “Self-Determination” Movement have protested before Parliament, whereas within the parliament premises, the MPs of this political force have chosen another form of protest. They have appeared in front of the parliament’s podium with maps of the dismemberment of Kosovo with the inscription “Hashim’s Kosovo”, where Kosovo appeared without the northern part.
Prime Minister Hashim Thaci said that the coming days will decide the deadlines for the implementation of the agreement by the main key players such as the Government of Kosovo, EULEX and KFOR.
Meanwhile, Parliament of Serbia is expected to discuss and vote this agreement on Monday. /ibna/
