Parliament elects the new head of SEC

Parliament of FYROM has elected today Nikola Rilkovski as head of the State Election Commission. The lawyer from Ohrid who has been an MP of the largest Macedonian opposition party, LSDM, comes in this post after the departure of the current chairman, Boris Kondarko.

Rilkovski was elected with 77 votes in favor, by also securing the votes of the majority. According to the electoral code, the proposal for the chairman of SEC is made by the largest opposition party in the country.

Rilkovski’s appointment through a fast track procedure increases the chances for early parliamentary elections along with presidential elections next March. /ibna/
