Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Matthew Palmer says that Belgrade and Pristina must resume dialogue before Serbia’s local elections due to take place next spring.
“When it comes to political calendars in Serbia and Kosovo, there’s an open window now for the sides to resume negotiations and make progress. Elections in Serbia may be held next spring and it’s necessary for dialogue to resume before the elections, because the election cycle makes it more difficult”, Palmer told BBC in Serbian.
Negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina were suspended last November, when Kosovo introduced a 100% tax hike on imports coming from Serbia. /ibna/
