More than 130 cyclists participate in the fourth edition of the international men’s 2018 Tour of Croatia cycling race that kicked off on Tuesday, April 17 began today in the city of Osijek, in the region of Slavonia.
“The first of six stages got underway just before noon on Tuesday at the starting line in downtown Osijek and will end this afternoon in Koprivnica.
The six-day race will wrap up on April 22nd in Zagreb, when 130 top racers from around the world will have covered 1000 kilometres across the country”, HRT reports.
The 227 kilometres of the first day are some of the hardest compared to previous years. According to the official web page of the race, tourofcroatia.com “The promotion to the 2nd HC category and two big ascents (one of them through the Papuk Nature Park) prepared for this year’s participants have provided the most demanding edition of the race so far.”
Starting point-city Osijek, Zadar, Starigrad, Rijeka and the Croatian capital Zagreb where the finish line of the race will be are among the cities that are hosting this year’s event…. / IBNA
