In its preliminary report, OSCE/ODIHR has considered the local government elections that were held on Sunday in FYROM, quiet and democratic, with several small irregularities which have not put the electoral process at risk.
The head of the OSCE/ODIHR mission, Audrey Glover said that Sunday’s elections showed that the country made a democratic advance.
“Although the process has not yet been completed, in these elections we saw the democratic advancement of the country and how confidence of the voters grew in the electoral process. We hope that the same situation will continue in the second round”, ambassador Glover said.
Glover didn’t comment the accusations launched by the opposition for irregularities. According to her, all complaints will be taken into account, including those addressed by the opposition. OSCE/ODHIR’s final report will be published once the electoral process is finalized. This mission had around 400 monitors who observed the campaign and Sunday’s elections. /balkaneu.com/
