Opposition must return to parliament, says Albanian speaker of the assembly

Speaker of parliament, Ilir Meta has invited the opposition to return to parliament and parliamentary committees, in order to put an end to boycott.

According to him, such action would serve to the consensual spirit and the advancement of the reforms which are necessary for integration.

As far as the issue of the Governor of the Central Bank is concerned, Meta declared that it must be solved as soon as possible through consults with the president and government and that the vacancies in the Oversight Committee of the Bank of Albania must also be filled.

According to him, this process must be made in full transparency. As far as the two inquiry committees required by the opposition are concerned, he said that they remain in power, given that the opposition has not made any other request.

The speaker of parliament also commented the incidents occurred during the match between Albania and Serbia, by saying that football conflicts must be avoided, while adding that he doesn’t want to comment a lot on the match, as this is the duty of sport institutions.

In relation to the visit of prime minister Edi Rama to Serbia is concerned, Meta said that this shows good will and a vision to contribute for peace in the region. /ibna/
