EULEX mission has conducted a special operation in the north of Kosovo for the arrest of Radovan Radic, suspected for a number of criminal offenses, among which is the killing of police officer Enver Zymberi on July 26, 2010, reports IBNA.
The news has been confirmed by EULEX spokesman, Blerim Krasniqi. He confirmed that today, around 2 am, Mitrovica Task Force, assisted by EULEX police, has conducted an operation in the village of Zupc in the region of Zubin Potok, following an international arrest warrant issued by INTERPOL for a 32 year old individual.
According to him, the operation failed, as the suspect was not at his home when the raid took place.
“The operation has been carried out following an investigation for murder, which includes serious murder, serious murder attempt, illegal possession of weapons and prevention of an official to perform his duty”, declared Krasniqi.
He added that accusations relate to the killing of police officer, Enver Zymberi on July 26, 2011 and the attack against police of Kosovo motorcade, in which he was traveling when he was killed.
On the other hand, mayor of Zubin Potok, Stevan Vulovic, reacted by saying that this is an attempt by EULEX to destabilize the situation in the north of Kosovo.
According to him, situation in the commune of Zubin Potok is tense.
“We have demanded from deputy chief of police in Zubin Potok to demand from EULEX not to intervene today in the territory of this commune, because locals would consider it as provocation”, said Vulovic.
Mr. Vulovic has called an urgent meeting of the four mayors of northern communes to discuss the new situation in this part of Kosovo. /ibna/
