International traditional classical music festival “Ohrid Summer” has started in the Antique Theater of Ohrid.
The festival opened on Saturday evening with the concert of the Italian soprano, Barbara Frittoli and baritone Leo Nucci, accompanied by the Philharmonic Orchestra of FYR Macedonia, conducted by Maestro Louis Gorelick from Argentina.
The 54th edition of “Ohrid Festival” was declared open by the president of FYROM George Ivanov, under the auspices of which this festival is held. The festival then continued with the duo Frittoli-Nucci, with famous arias from Giuseppe Verdi, “such as “Don Carlo”, “Simon Bokanegra”, “Sicilian Night”, “La Traviata”, etc.
Ivanov said among others that music is the second name of freedom, alluding about the 70th anniversary of the creation of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the country. “Music has its own power and nothing else can better express human emotions”, said Ivanov.
The artistic message was conveyed by the opera singer, Milka Eftimova, who said that artists in FYROM consider “Ohrid Summer” as a great honor for artists.
During the next 40 days, “Ohrid Summer” will offer, according to the hosts, unforgettable evenings for the public, through prominent names of the musical stage and world theaters. /ibna/
