Ohrid conference, Balkan countries are offering their contribution for global peace

The Conference of Ministers of Defense of the member countries of Adriatic Charter and other countries is taking place in Ohrid. Present in this conference, besides other ministers of the Western Balkan countries, was also the Minister of Security Forces of Kosovo, Agim Çeku.

The Minister of Defense of FYR Macedonia, Talat Xhaferi, in the quality of host of this meeting stressed that the countries of the Balkan region are offering their long term contribution for regional and international security.

“Our common success and advancement of regional cooperation is of mutual interest for peace and security in the region and beyond”, said Minister Xhaferi. According to him, FYROM and other countries of the region are jointly participating in Afghanistan, to offer peace and security on a global level. “This also confirms the mission of the partnership in the framework of USA-Adriatic Charter in strengthening bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation and the joint contribution in the Euro Atlantic security”, said FYR Macedonian Minister of Defense.

This conference which has seen the participation of senior representatives of the ministries of defense of member countries of USA-Adriatic Charter, monitoring countries and guest countries, representatives of USA and NATO, diplomats, NATO Advisory Team in FYROM, and representatives of other relevant institutions, will discuss on the bilateral cooperation, joint contribution in Afghanistan after 2014 and concrete projects in the spirit of the “Smart Defense” concept.

The conference represents a continuity of the process decided between the countries with the scope of promoting regional dialogue, strengthening of regional cooperation and strengthening of regional capacities. /ibna/
