According to authorities in Kosovo, the integration of the judicial system in the northern part of the country, is going well and without any problems.
After nearly two decades of a parallel justice system in the four northern communes inhabited by a Serbian majority and where the laws of Serbia had been applied, the integration of the judicial system started last year and this system is applying the laws of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to authorities, judges and prosecutors in the north of Kosovo are working without any problems to respect the laws of Kosovo.
According to chief prosecutor of the Court of First Instance in Northern Mitrovica, Shyqyri Syla, the number of criminal cases has started to go down since the functioning of the justice system in that part of Kosovo.
“I can say that in the past two or three months, there’s a drop in the rates of crime, because criminals know now that they could face the law”, Syla says.
Kosovo’s Board of Judges also says that the integration of the justice system in the north is going well.
The head of this board, Nehat Idrizi says that except for some small problems in the division of cases, there are no other problems in the northern courts. /balkaneu.com/
