North Macedonia’s debt accounts for 42,2% of GDP

With a public debt which accounts for 42,2% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), North Macedonia is positioned 23rd in Europe.

As far as the region is concerned, Albania has the highest public debt along with Montenegro, while Serbia, which had a public debt even higher than Albania, has reduced it to 56,4% of GDP. Kosovo not only has the smallest debt in the region, but also in Europe with 16,6% of GDP.

According to North Macedonia’s ministry of Finance, public debt in the first three months of the year has increased by 40 million euros compared to 2018, taking the total amount to 5,2 billion euros. /ibna/
