The need to enable the Convention to work in an alternative way in the event of a pandemic or some other unforeseen situation, the adoption of reform laws pending an intergovernmental conference to launch the EU accession negotiations, and the need to review the anti-discrimination law to ratify emergency decisions and amendments on the Rules of Procedure, as agreed through the Jean Monnet Dialogue, comprised the topics of today’s meeting between Assembly President Talat Xhaferi and the Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje Clemens Koja.
According to Xhaferi’s Office, the OSCE also discussed its role in developing democratic processes, as well as co-operation with the legislature, monitoring the electoral process, and the Assembly’s ongoing co-operation with the OSCE Mission to Skopje.
He stressed that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, in which the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia actively participates, is a vital link between the Organization and the MPs directly elected by the citizens.
During the meeting with Xhaferi, Ambassador Clemens Koja congratulated Xhaferi on his re-election as President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, stressing that the OSCE Mission to Skopje will continue to cooperate with the legislature in implementing the reform process.
Xhaferi and Koja also stressed the constructive co-operation between the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia and the OSCE Mission to Skopje, aimed at strengthening parliamentary independence, supervision and the democratic role, and expressed readiness to continue and deepen cooperation. /ibna
