North Macedonia: Intra-party conflicts in VMRO-DPMNE continue

The initiative council for convening a VMRO-DPMNE congress denies the views Petar Bogojevski expressed in “Slobodan Petsat” in an article titled “False or real conflict for the party throne of the VMRO-DPMNE”.

“The initiative to hold an extraordinary conference to elect a new leadership in the VMRO-DPMNE is a sincere effort to save the party, reform it and return to victories. We can not say what influence Martin Protuger has on Hristijan Mickoski, but we can confirm with certainty that he did not participate in the initiative that required responsibility and the resignation of incumbent President Mickoski. Protuger may be behind Mickoski and supporting him to stay in his office planning strategies, but that is the only relationship the two men share”.

“The initiative council comprises only a small number of party members who recently joined and supported the call for change. No one did and no one can kidnap the initiative. Everyone is welcome to share the view that the current leadership is exhausted and does not have the ability to win the sympathy of the public”.

“Any attempt to tarnish the sincere intentions of the initiative is an attempt to endorse incumbent President Mickoski and ensure another sure victory for the SDSM in the coming elections”, the initiative notes in a statement. /ibna
