The former Albanian presidential candidate, Blerim Reka says that the EU Council will not set a date for the start of membership talks with North Macedonia. “Of course, this does not make me happy”, he says, adding that “NATO accession is a geo-political process, while EU accession is a technical process”.
According to the former candidate, “EU accession requires security and rule of law”. Reka says that “we must not blame member countries for this failure, but try to identify the problem here”.
“Many big promises were made. EU accession is a marathon, which does not depend on dates. We need to manage failure and be realistic about our expectations”, he says. /ibna/
