Nicosia prepares to welcome later this month Foreign Ministers from the 47 members states of the Council of Europe (CoE), who will be attending the closing session of the Cyprus Chairmanship of the CoE`s Committee of Ministers.
As CNA learns, the 127th Ministerial session will be attended by Greece`s Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias, along with his counterparts from Armenia, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Georgia.
Moreover, the Foreign Ministers of Latvia, Moldova, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Romania are also expected to arrive on the island for the Ministerial session.
The Foreign Ministers of Russia, Serbia, Sweden and Switzerland also confirmed their attendance.
The session will also be attended by the Foreign Minister of Hungary, who will meet separately with the President of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, as well as by the UK Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Alan Duncan.
Many member states will be represented by their Deputy Foreign Ministers, while Stavros Lambrinides will attend on behalf of the EU, as the bloc`s Special Representative for Human Rights.
The Ministerial session marks the conclusion of the Cyprus Chairmanship of the CoE and Ministers are expected to take stock of achievements, before Nicosia hands over the Chair to the Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic.
It is also expected that the “Nicosia Convention” on offences related to cultural property will open for signatures./IBNA
