The negotiators of the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot sides, Andreas Mavroyiannis and Ozdil Nami, discussed here today mainly the property issue, according to reliable sources.
Mavroyiannis and Nami met in the context of the UN-led peace talks, which resume in May last year between Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci.
The negotiators are expected to meet again in the week beginning 25 January, ahead of a scheduled meeting between Anastasiades and Akinci on 29 January.
In the meantime, President Anastasiades and Akinci are set to meet with UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon in Davos next week.
Cyprus has been divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion. Repeated round of peace talks have so far failed to produce an agreed settlement. The latest effort began in May last year.
