The negotiators of the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot sides, Andreas Mavroyiannis and Ozdil Nami depart on Thursday for Brussels in the context of the UN-backed talks for a settlement to the Cyprus problem.
Sources told CBA that Mavrogiannis and Nami will hold contacts concerning the preparation of the implementation of the acquis communautaire (the EU law and regulations) throughout the island after a settlement.
Cyprus has been divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion. Repeated round of peace talks have so far failed to produce an agreed settlement. The latest effort began in May last year.
