Skopje’s negotiator on the name dispute, Zoran Jolevski will be part of the new governing cabinet in FYR Macedonia, where he will act as minister of Defense.
He has previously held the post of the ambassador of FYR Macedonia in Washington and at the same time, he was also head negotiator on the issue of the name dispute with Greece, a process brokered by the UNO.
Nikola Gruevski, who was mandated for the formation of the new government, declared that Jolevski will arrive this week from Washington in order to take office as minister of Defense and according to him, discussions will follow about the person to replace him in the process of talks.
Media have started to speculate as to who will be Jolevski’s replacer. According to media supporting the government, Vasko Naumovski, a young professor of international law at the University of Skopje and who has been deputy prime minister for European integration from 2007 to 2008 in Gruevski’s cabinet, may be a potential candidate.
President George Ivanov’s cabinet said that activities will be coordinated in order to appoint the new negotiator. Meanwhile, Jolevski has led the negotiations on the name dispute since 2008. /ibna/
