Acting prime minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci received on Wednesday in a meeting the delegation of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, led by Hugh Bayley, president of the Assembly.
According to the press statement released by the prime minister’s office, Thaci assured Mr. Bayley that the other members of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly that Kosovo will continue its Euro Atlantic path, by working to develop its democracy and to build a multi ethnic society.
“Of course, our objective and our vision is to integrate in the NATO and European Union, but good neighboring relations are a prerequirement”, said Thaci.
Talking about the spirit of regional cooperation for which the government of Kosovo is determined, Thaci said that:
“We have built excellent relations with neighbors and we’re manifesting these relations with Serbia too. We’re optimistic that we can make progress in this aspect. There will be no going back”.
In this meeting, acting prime minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci also answered the questions of the members of the NATO parliamentary assembly in relation to foreign policy, regional cooperation and policies relating to the security of Kosovo.
The head of the sub committee for Trans Atlantic Defense and Cooperation fro Security, Sverre Myrli, representative of Norway in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, said during the meeting held with Thaci that “the international community must treat the Republic of Kosovo as an independent and sovereign state”.
“I’m astonished by Kosovo’s achievements 15 years after the war”, said Myrli. /ibna/
