In Albania, mayors and municipality councilors from the oppositions have filed a request to reduce property tax by 30%.
The request to cut tax on property to such a large extent, follows the public appeal of the opposition leader, Lulzim Basha. Basha has warned a new wave of tax cuts by the government once he returns in power and also promised an immediate tax cut from municipalities controlled by the DP.
The democrat leader, Basha, has declared that if Albanians vote for his party, tax on property will return to the rates prior to 2007.
Tax on property has almost quadrupled in the past two years, increasing the burden of taxes especially for small businesses which can barely survive.
Experts suggests that a 30% tax cut will have a direct effect in the budget of businesses and families sustained by them. /ibna/
