MPs to Decide on Fate of Fiscal Rule

Comments made after last night’s meeting of political leaders suggest that Thursday’s plenary dedicated to the fiscal rule is likely to be interrupted and postponed to the beginning of May. Deputy groups will hold meetings in the morning to decide how to move forward. PM Alenka Bratušek meanwhile labelled last night’s talks “very constructive”.

The fate of today’s opposition-sponsored parliamentary session is still unclear – while the prime minister did not touch on the subject, opposition People’s Party (SLS) president Franc Bogovič said an option on the table was to interrupt the session and postpone it to the beginning of May when more would be clear about whether the fiscal rule can be inserted in the Constitution in its current form.
