Moscow is ready to resume talks on the Burgas-Alexandroupolis gas pipeline

Russia is ready to resume talks on the Burgas-Alexandroupolis gas pipeline, from the construction project of which the Bulgarian government resigned in December 2011. This was stated by Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak at the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg.

“We will discuss this plan today (Friday), we will have a meeting with Bulgarian Energy Minister”, he said in reply to a relevant question the Russian Energy Minister, according to state news agency TASS of Russia.

Russia, Greece and Bulgaria have signed on March 15, 2007, an intergovernmental agreement on the project of the pipeline with a length of 285 km and a maximum capacity of 50 million tons.
