Montenegro will treat tourists who become ill with COVID-19 during their stay in the country at the expense of the state

The guide through safety and health protocols for Covid-19, which contains all the necessary information for tourists who will visit Montenegro, is available today on the website of the Ministries of Health and Economic Development and the Institute of Public Health (IPH).

The Minister of Health, Jelena Borovinić Bojović, told the Mina-business agency that the guide, entitled “Montenegro as a safe and responsible tourist destination”, was conceived in such a way as to respect the epidemiological measures in force in Montenegro at all times.

“That means that it is subject to change in the event of possible changes that refer to the currently valid epidemiological measures,” said Borovinić Bojović.

She said that hospital treatment was provided to all tourists who, during their stay in Montenegro, eventually fell ill with covid-19 and required hospitalization, at the expense of the state.

“On the other hand, we will enable PCR testing, which will be free of charge for all those tourists who need that PCR test when returning to their home country from which they came to Montenegro,” said Borovinić Bojović.

She stated that all hoteliers provided ten per cent of accommodation capacity for those guests who eventually, during their stay in Montenegro, fell ill with Covid-19.

“We tried to make the protocol understandable, simple, not too long and to provide all the information that the one who visits the country needs the most at that moment,” said Borovinić Bojović.

The guide to safety and health protocols for Covid-19, developed by the Ministries of Health and Economic Development and the IPH, is currently being translated into English and Russian and will be delivered to the Union of Employers, as well as to all embassies in Montenegro.
