Montenegro’s Foreign minister has declared during a visit to Kosovo, that his country will back any agreement that Kosovo and Serbia will reach. However, he noted that the idea of territorial swaps is not always a good idea.
Srđan Darmanović made these comments during a visit to Pristina, which coincided with the first anniversary of the ratification of the border demarcation agreement between Montenegro and Kosovo, an issue which had triggered a big political debate in Kosovo.
Kosovo’s Foreign minister, Behgjet Pacolli said that he felt encouraged by the position taken by his Montenegrin counterpart, who suggests that the finalization of dialogue with Serbia should lead to a mutual recognition of the two countries.
“Almost every country in the region suggests the same end. This is why we believe that Serbia will understand that if it doesn’t recognize Kosovo, then its future will not be bright”, Pacolli said.
Meanwhile, Kosovo has no pending issues with the countries of the region, with the exception of Serbia.
The US, EU and other countries of the region say that they’re wiling to offer their contribution so that Kosovo and Serbia can reach an agreement during 2019. /ibna/
