The head of the EU diplomacy, Federica Mogherini has expressed her satisfaction about the start of the implementation of the agreement on the judicial system signed between Kosovo and Serbia.
Following the meeting that she had with PM Isa Mustafa, she confirmed the EU’s support for the advancement in the process of the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
She also spoke about the Special Tribunal, while giving a clear message to the Kosovo’s Assembly.
“I count on the assembly that will secure the necessary 2/3 of votes. This goes in line with the pledges that were made last year and I believe that this can be a very good way to move forward. I cannot speculate what will happen if parliament doesn’t vote it, but it would be best to work because this would be a very positive development”, she said.
PM Isa Mustafa expressed his readiness to work in this aspect.
“Kosovo is ready to meet the request for special chambers of the Tribunal and this shows that Kosovo is not scared to face the past. We don’t think that the purpose of this Tribunal is to try our liberation war, but to try each individual who may have perpetrated a crime”, Mustafa said.
While stressing that relations between Kosovo and Serbia are being normalized, Mustafa said that last evening he spoke to Serb PM, Aleksandar Vucic.
Meanwhile, Mogherini assured Mustafa for further support. She said that yesterday’s conference with the participation of the EU Enlargement Commissioner, Johannes Hahn, the visit of the EU Commissioner for Migration, Dimitris Avramopulos and her visit show the European support for Kosovo.
Mustafa briefed Mogherini on the priorities of the government and the crucial reforms that must be delivered. /ibna/
