The great investment opportunities in Greece and the close cooperation between Greece and the US in the trade sector were at the heart of the meeting of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis with the US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. The prime minister presented to Ross the Greek reform program, emphasizing the issues of restoring the country’s economic credibility and simplifying investment procedures, with the US side highlighting the first samples of government effectiveness.
Among the issues discussed, Mitsotakis, who initially presented the whole set of flagship investments scheduled by the government, also raised the issue of the exemption of Greek olive oil from US duties when exported to the US. At the meeting, which took place in a particularly warm atmosphere, there was discussion on European-US relations, as well as issues of international trade.
The US Prime Minister and Secretary of Commerce renewed their appointment for September 25. Mitsotakis will pay a visit to New York for the UN Summit and will be invited by Ross to a dinner with US Businessmen interested in investing in Greece./ibna
