Mitsotakis: Greece seeks to cultivate good neighborly relations without tensions in the region

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had a meeting with European Council President Charles Michel, immediately after his arrival in Brussels for the Special Session of the European Council.

The Greek Prime Minister traveled to Brussels to attend the Special Session of the European Council that was scheduled to take place in September, but was postponed to October 1st and 2nd. This refers to a Summit initiated by Greece and the Republic of Cyprus, on the occasion of the ongoing Turkish provocation. The two leaders agreed that the EU seeks a good relationship with Turkey and stability in the region, adding, however, that the EU is willing to use all the means at its disposal to defend its interests and advance its goals.

During the discussion, the Prime Minister stressed that Greece wishes to cultivate good neighborly relations without tensions in the region. However, it is clear, he added, that it is up to Turkey whether it will choose to cooperate or face the consequences of its behavior. /ibna
