Normalizing Kosovo-Serbia relations by mutual recognition is the only goal
The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Behgjet Pacolli, met on Tuesday with the US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Matthew Palmer.
The meeting was held in Slovenia, on the sidelines of the Bled Strategic Forum, which is one of the region’s most popular international conferences and aims to push forward the implementation of strategies designed to tackle pressing issues on the European continent and beyond.
“I had a meeting with the US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Matthew Palmer. I congratulated Mr. Palmer on his appointment and as an old friend of Kosovo in this new position, he will continue to support us at all levels, ”said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo.
Speaking about the dialogue process, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said that dialogue is a very important process and an opportunity to close the dark chapter between Kosovo and Serbia.
He said that normalizing Kosovo-Serbia relations by mutual recognition is the only goal, nothing less, and that the Republic of Kosovo appreciates Washington’s strong position to that end.
“Kosovo can count as always in the United States of America, but the United States must count on us as committed and reliable partners,” Kosovo’s Foreign Minister said.
The day before, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has appointed senior US State Department official Matthew Palmer as the United States Special Representative for the Western Balkans./ibna
