Michalis Sallas, Chairman of Piraeus Bank Group, is expected to be the new president of the Greek Union of Banks (GUB), once the administrative changes in the National Bank are completed.
To the appointment of Sallas in the GUB have agreed all systemic banks and the decision is expected to be announced as soon as the appointment of the new administration of the National Bank.
Sallas will be replacing G. Zannias, President of the National Bank, while the government has launched (indirectly) the change of leadership at the National Bank.
The assumption of the presidency of the Greek Union of Banks by Michalis Sallas is itself a significant development for the Greek banking system.
This is due to the fact that his innovative ideas and great experience, as well as the general acceptance of Sallas, are expected to contribute to the recovery of the greek economy.
