The Metaldays festival kicks off on Monday bringing together metal music fans for seven days of concerts in an idyllic alpine setting near the north-western town of Tolmin. The nearly sold-out festival will feature over 100 bands through 30 July.
This year’s festival programme will not feature big names to attract the wider mainstream audience, but is “intentionally more metal” and aimed at true metal fans, organiser Slobodan Milunović has said.
Some of the biggest names that will be performing next week are Testament of the US, Germany’s Blind Guardian, Sweden’s Dark Funeral and Delain of the Netherlands.
About 85% of the tickets were sold to foreigners from over 50 countries, most of them Germans and the French.
Milunović believes that Metaldays differs from other European metal festivals in that it offers fans a whole week of their favourite music in a unique idyllic setting in nature.
