Meta-Veljanovski: Albanians play a key role in FYROM, minority representation will not be affected

Speaker of Parliament, Ilir Meta received today in a meeting his Macedonian counterpart, Trajko Veljaniovski. At the end of the meeting, the two counterparts issued a speech for the media.

In his speech, Meta declared that this meeting confirmed the excellent bilateral relations in the best interest of both countries and integration.

The head of the Albanian parliament said that relations with FYROM are special not only in the quality of a neighboring country, but also as a result of the role that Albanian community that lives there plays.

Meta also said that Albania supports FYROM’s accession in the NATO, EU and also the stability in this country.

Meta declared that the Albanian political factor plays a key role in strengthening of relations between the two countries and further consolidation between them and also for the implementation of the Ohrid Agreement as an agreement which guarantees stability in FYROM.

Albanian parliamentary speaker offered support to the Macedonian community living in Albania, demanding the same thing by the Macedonian counterpart for the Albanians that live in the neighboring country.

According to him, the implementation of the Ohrid Agreement in full guarantees cohabitation between communities in FYROM.

Meta also said that the reform for the administrative division is delayed, but stressed that this reform doesn’t affect the minority. He added that the reform will be comprehensive under the assistance of the EU and that the representation of minorities in Albania will not be affected.

On his party, Macedonian parliamentary speaker declared that the frequent meetings between the parties strengthen the relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, FYROM’s speaker of parliament said that Albanians there have been treated well and that their rights have been respected.

Veljanovski also declared that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, mutual cooperation and support has been confirmed in all domains. /ibna/
