A merger takes place between two mobile phone operators in FYROM

In FYR Macedonia, two mobile phone operators, VIP which is owned by Telecom Austria and the other operator, ONE, owned by Slovenian Telecom, have merged into a single company. The deal was made public by Telecom Austria, which will own 55% of shares.

“Telecom Austria or VIP will own 55% of the shares and will have full control, while Telecom Slovenia owns 45% of the shares. The agreement also allows sales and acquisitions and Telecom Slovenia is entitled to leave this new merger after three years of the merger. This merger must also undergo through the respective filters of Macedonian institutions and the deal will be finalized in the first half of 2015”, writes the press statement of Telecom Austria Group.

ONE is the third largest operator in FYROM with 23.6% of the market and 528 thousand users until December 31, 2013. This company’s revenues are 75.5 million Euros, while its profit is 14.4 million Euros.

Telecom Austria in FYROM offers mobile phone services through its operator, VIP since 2007. VIP has 28.1% of the market and around 630.000 users until December 31, 2013. VIP is the second largest operator in FYROM with revenues amounting to 65 million Euro and a profit of 14,7 million Euros. /ibna/
