Several dozen members of the Association of Unemployed B&H gathered today for peaceful protests in front of the building of the FB&H Parliament in Sarajevo. They said that they have come together on occasion of the thematic session of the House of Representatives of the FB&H Parliament on the topic of constitutional reforms in the FB&H. Their demands are for a better economy and the creation of new jobs, and the abolition of cantons.

The Coordinator of the Association HasanSejdić considers that the demands of the Association are justified, and they want the creation of 100.000 new jobs, an efficient system and not an administrative apparatus and cantons that waste and ‘eat’ jobs.

‘’Politicians are always saying that they are not able to develop the economy because there are poor constitutional changes. Now is the time to change that’’, said Sejdić.

The Association emphasized that in all normal countries, unemployed people who are in social need and are at the employment bureau for a long time receive monetary compensation that is guaranteed. In B&H, some individuals are on the employment bureau for 50 years, and they do not have any compensation. They pointed out dissatisfaction with the system here and the cry of the citizens towards those who sit on their sofas and waste the money from the budget and take away jobs. They will not tolerate this any longer.

Members of the Association of Unemployed B&H meet every day and communicate with those who are unemployed, which is increasing, and they are mostly young people. IN February, according to statistics from the B&H Statistics Agency, there were 556.868 unemployed people, and of this number, 394.350 live in the area of the FB&H.

At the meeting in the Parliament today, discussions began on amendments to the Constitution of the FB&H and initiatives to change the Constitution. The Parliamentary Constitutional Commission at today’s session of the House of Representatives of the FB&H Parliament, which is underway in Sarajevo, suggested a structural constitutional reform as an imperative due to the current complex and expensive constitutional structure. Unemployed people sent their demands to the delegates at today’s session in the House of Representatives of the FB&H Parliament and they are waiting for someone to address them. They were told that there is a pause at the session that began at 14:00 and there is a chance that someone would address the Association. However, no one has responded to them yet.

In the meantime, the protestors have dispersed, while in the building of the FB&H Parliament the Coordinator of the Association of Unemployed HasanSejdić remained in order to wait for representatives of the FB&H government to receive him and to responds to the demands of the Association.
