Republic of Cyprus Defence Minister, Christoforos Fokaides, met today (Thursday) in his office with the Commander of Estonian Defence Forces, Major General Riho Torras, who is an official visit to Cyprus at the invitation of the Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Elias Leontari.
During the meeting, bilateral relations and possibilities for further strengthening and cooperation in the Common Security and Defense Policy were discussed. In particular, the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) was discussed and areas where Cyprus and Estonia could work together to achieve common goals were explored. Particular emphasis was given on cyber defense issues where Estonia has developed significant opportunities in recent years.
It was also announced by the Estonian side that they will offer a scholarship to the Military School of the Baltic States./IBNA
