The meeting of the political leaders of the majority and opposition in Kosovo, which was organized upon the invitation of the president of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, has not yielded any results which would mark advancement in solving the political crisis in the country.
After this meeting, PM Isa Mustafa invited the opposition to give up on violence and embrace Euro Atlantic processes.
“We demanded for violence to be abandoned, because the problems in the Republic of Kosovo are not solved through it. We need to work together for the implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement”, Mustafa said.
Meanwhile, leader of PDK, Hashim Thaci said after the meeting that the political forces in power and opposition must overcome their differences for the sake of the state’s interest.
According to Thaci, the representative of the opposition in this meeting, Ramush Haradinaj has not raised the much controversial topics that have accompanied politics in Kosovo in the recent months, such as the issue of the Association of Serb Communes and the border demarcation with Montenegro as concerns.
Thaci said that Haradinaj was more focused on seizing power.
Leader of AKK declared that in this meeting he has demanded the dissolution of parliament and the appointment of a date for early general elections.
Meanwhile, US and EU representatives have demanded another meeting between the president and the political leaders.
“I welcome today’s efforts of the president of Kosovo and other parties in order to find a solution to the political crisis through dialogue. I’m looking forward to the next meeting”, the US ambassador to Pristina, Greg Delawie declared.
EU special representative to Kosovo, Samuel Zbogar said that a solution for such complex political situations cannot be found through a single meeting.
“The EU commends the President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga and political leaders who came together in order to look for a solution of the current political crisis”, he said.
According to him, it’s important for political leaders to behave in a European way and find solutions through dialogue and compromise. /ibna/
