Pristina, July 24, 2013
A meeting has ended in Brussels between the EU high representatives, Catherine Ashton, Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci and the Serbian Prime Minister, Ivica Dacic.
Although the topic of this meeting was telecom, energy and local government elections in Kosovo, no agreement was reached. According to the declaration of Baroness Ashton, the parties have agreed upon the fact that there will be regular elections.
“The two prime ministers have discussed and agreed for the November 3 elections to be held in a regular way and for there to be a massive participation”, states Ashton’s press release.
After the meeting, which lasted for about 4 hours, Thaci has declared that progress has been achieved in order to guarantee a high representation of Serbs in the elections.
“The meeting has been constructive, but as far as telecommunication and energy are concerned, there hasn’t been a final solution, but several things are expected to be clarified in the days to come”, said Thaci. /ibna/
