On Wednesday, European Commission will publish the progress report on FYROM. Media in Skopje commented today that the country will once again be recommended for negotiations with the EU, but the report will contain criticism for several problematic issues.
Freedom of media, corruption, lack of political dialogue and the aspect of the inter ethnic tensions through urban incidents are some of the critical issues which will be included in the European Commission report. These criticized issues have been announced by the majority of opposition media, while media in favor of the government expect a positive report for the country. According to “Nova” portal, the report is focused on the solution of the name dispute with Athens and in this aspect, European Commission is envisaging the possibility to express its willingness to be involved in finding a solution. “As far as the freedom of media is concerned, the report says that dialogue between government and the association of journalists has entered a stalemate in the voting of the act on media and to prevent barriers that relate to the work of media”, write media in Skopje. /ibna/
