The suspended match between Serbia and Albania in Belgrade has also been reflected in FYR Macedonia. Thousands of Albanians celebrated in different cities after the suspension of the match, as a sign of support for the Albanian national side players.
But, celebrations didn’t go without incidents. The Ministry of Interior informed that Tuesday’s celebrations led to the demolition of three buses by fans who celebrated in the streets of Skopje.
Another incident was registered in Tetovo between the fans of “Shkendija” football club, “Ballistat” and Macedonian fans, “Vojvods”. But, police intervention led to the dispersion of the groups.
After these incidents, Ministry of Interior has interrogated the organizers of the celebrations in Tetovo. “Ballistet” fan group said that these fans were told that they were going to be fined up to 200 Euros for disruption of public order.
Largest Macedonian opposition party LSDM (Macedonian Social Democratic League) demanded the penalization of Albanian fans in FYROM, who celebrated after the match between Serbia and Albania. According to LSDM, nobody has the right to disrupt order, like it happened after the match.
“Ministry of Interior is obliged to maintain constitutional order, but order two nights ago failed. We call on minister Jankulovska to use the testimonies found in social networks and act against those who violate public order”, reads the press statement of LSDM.
BDI lawmaker, Artan Grubi has been part of the Albanian fans in Belgrade and for the media in Skopje, he expressed his regret about the Serb chants “Kill the Albanians, slaughter the Albanians” in the Belgrade stadium. He said that these acts must be avoided once and for all, if the region wants to live in peace and harmony between nations. /ibna/
