Parliamentary committee for production activities rejected today the President’s decree on the bill on tourism.
Minister of Tourism, Arben Ahmetaj, has spoken in favor of the draft and said that the president’s arguements are unfounded. According to him, this bill defines many powers of different institutions and that the scope is to support sustainable tourism. Meanwhile, democrat MP, Helidon Bushati, said that the government’s policies to promote tourism, have failed.
The bill on tourism was voted in July by parliament, but it was sent back by the president of Republic for revision. In his arguments, the president says that four articles of the bill are against the Constitution of the country. One of the articles is the one according to which, there will be funding for projects of education and promotion of tourism through budget funds, ruling out procurement procedures.
Another article that is against the Constitution, according to the head of the state, is the one that has to do with the transfer of properties in tourist areas into the management of the Ministry of Tourism and removing them from the local government’s administration. /ibna/
