The majority of citizens in FYROM want the country to become a member of NATO and the European Union. According to an exit poll conducted by “Eurothing” center based in Skopje, over 65,8% of the citizens are in favor of the country’s accession in the NATO. Compared to a year ago, there has been an increase in the number of people in favor of accession. Meanwhile, over 19% do not support accession in the NATO.
Similar figures also apply to accession in the European Union. Over 67,9% would vote in favor of a referendum for EU accession, while 18% would vote against.
The majority of respondents have stressed that the failure to solve the name dispute is one of the main obstacles for the integration in European Atlantic structures.
