Leader of the biggest Albanian party, Democratic Union for Integration (BDI), Ali Ahmeti invited voters to also boycott the second round of the presidential elections. Ahmeti also called on voters to massively vote the program of this party in the parliamentary elections which will take place on April 27, the same day as the presidential elections.

Ahmeti declared this in a meeting held last evening in Saraj, Skopje, where he said that the stance of this party doesn’t change even in the second round of the presidential elections.

The head of BDI said that the battle to reach a political agreement for a consensual president between the two communities, Albanian and Macedonian, continues.

“We will continue to promote our great idea for a consensual president, which unites the majority of Albanians in Macedonia. Our idea is a very strong one which benefits Macedonia. This is why we invite Albanians once again to confirm our stance, by saying no to a non consensual president”, said Ahmeti.

The Albanian opposition party, National Democratic Renaissance (RDK) has reacted against this stance. This party said today that the call for the boycott of the elections will guarantee the victory of the VMRO-DPMNE candidate, George Ivanov in the April 27 run off. “With this decision, BDI has set a dangerous anti-Albanian precedent, as it will not allow the election of a legitimate president even without the votes of the Albanian community”, says RDK. /ibna/
