Upon the request of the orthodox Albanians in FYROM, the Holy Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church gave its consent for the holding of masses in Albania in the region of Diber and Gostivar.

The first mass will be held in Spring next year in one of the churches of the west of the country. A mass will also be held to commemorate Kristo Bageri, son of the renowned Albanian representative of renaissance, Josif Bageri.

Such sermons will be held every time that believers ask them. These masses will also be held by priests who know Albanian.

The request for the holding of this mass has been made by the association National Albanian Nest led by Elida Jorgoni. She said that she’s happy with this positive decision of the Macedonian Orthodox Church and that preparations are now being made to mark the 110th anniversary of the Albanian cleric and patriot, Kristo Bageri, killed by the Turks in 1905. /ibna/
