Diplomatic Academy of the Republic of Kosovo, in collaboration with the Vienna Diplomatic Academy, have launched on Monday in Vienna the two day conference for multilateral diplomacy called “Opportunities and challenges for the accession of Kosovo in international organizations”.
This conference was opened by the head of the Vienna Diplomatic Academy, ambassador Hans Winkler and head of the Diplomatic Academy of Kosovo, Skender Durmishi.
The conference was addressed through a video link by the rapporteur on Kosovo in the European Parliament, Ulrike Lunacek. She said that activities such as this conference, must encourage countries which have not yet recognized Kosovo, to do this as soon as possible, adding that neutrality toward the status is something which must not exist in international relations.
Head of the Diplomatic Academy of Kosovo, Skender Durmishi said that integration of Kosovo in international organizations and multi-lateral diplomacy have a high importance and priority in the diplomacy of Kosovo.
“For this reason, in cooperation with the Vienna Diplomatic Academy, we have organized this conference to hold a forum with the participation of many important panelists to debate on this issue”, said Durmishi.
Meanwhile, general director of the Foreign Ministry of Kosovo, ambassador Albert Prenkaj, has presented the results that Kosovo has achieved so far, especially in the aspect of integration in regional and international institutions.
Meanwhile, the former deputy of the special envoy of the UN Secretary General for the process of the status of Kosovo, ambassador Albert Rohan, said that this has been a very interesting conference organized by the Vienna Diplomatic Academy and the one in Pristina.
“Good cooperation between our two countries. We have discussed political and legal issues and I believe that the main message that was sent was that Kosovo must be intensively involved in the process of European integration”, said Rohan.
Participating in this conference are diplomats from the Austrian Foreign Ministry, European Council, Venice Commission, representatives of the academic world, journalists and diplomats accredited in Vienna. /ibna/
