Opposition party LSDM (Macedonian Social Democratic Union) has launched criticism against the government of only favoring foreign companies for the export of their products, while neglecting domestic companies.

According to this party, export in the country is seeing a fall in comparison to the countries of the region and based on the latest statistics, the annual level of the growth of export last year has been 6,6%, much lower than Serbia’s rate of 28,7% and Albania’s rate of 18,4%.

“The government is focusing on the export of foreign companies which are offered big privileges, while domestic companies have been forgotten. Domestic companies must be stimulated”, said LSDM official on economic affairs, Dragan Tevdvovski.

Macedonian opposition proposes a package of measures which would stimulate domestic companies in order to increase their exports.

This package includes free construction land, tax relief, support and partial coverage of bank loans for developing purposes, but only if these companies employ at least 10 people.

The opposition warns that it will also promote other proposals in order to encourage domestic businesses. /ibna/
