Kosovar emigrants who are returning from the countries where they work, are facing long queues on the border with Serbia, especially on the border crossing point of “Merdar” and “Dheu i Bardhe”.
Serb authorities have been blamed for the long queues that have been created.
Acting Minister of Diaspora, Ibrahim Makolli says that he has visited the border crossing points with the highest circulation, in order to closely inspect the situation.
Makolli says that police of Kosovo is doing everything in order to accelerate border crossing procedures.
“We have seen the commitment of the Border Police and the increase of the number of staff on the Kosovar side of the border. In almost all the cases, we have noticed that long queues are not allowed. The long waiting periods are taking place in the territory of Serbia due to the problems that they may cause”, said Makolli.
Spokesman of the police of Kosovo, Baki Kelani declared that this institution has increased capacities and is doing everything not to make people wait.
“In order to facilitate circulation and cut waiting times, we have taken all the necessary measures, by increasing number of police officials in border crossing points, namely in the border crossing point of Merdar. Apart from this, we also apply fast track procedures in order to avoid waiting times”, said Kelani./ibna/
