The Association and Stabilization Agreement will enable Kosovo businesses to offer their services in the European markets.

This was said by the minister of Commerce and Industry, Hykmete Bajrami after the start of the implementation of the project funded by the EU dubbed “Assistance in the implementation of the Stabilization and Association agreement-EU Directive on Services”.

Bajrami said that there’s a need to boost the export of services. The head of cooperation in the EU Office in Kosovo, Christof Stock declared that SAA  offers many opportunities in the domain of services.

“In this project we see special domains which are driven by services.  One of them is construction sector, which I think it is one of the key sectors in Kosovo, as it happens in the majority of EU countries”, Stock said.

The service sector is the only sector of economy in which Kosovo performs better as opposed to import. Bajrami said that out of a total value of 1,2 billion euros worth of services, 770 million of them are exports.

“I would call on the EU to support us in the path of the liberalization of visas. There are plenty of services which can be offered online and through other ways”, Bajrami said. /
