Head of the EU office to Kosovo, Samuel Zbogar declared that the lifting of visas and free movement in the Schengen area for the citizens of Kosovo, is not an instrument to escape problems.
During an international conference held in the ISPE College, Zbogar said that Kosovo must offer convincing arguments for the EU countries that it deserves a free visa regime.
“The process of the visa liberalization depends on how much the criteria are delivered and this was also said by commissioner Avramopoulos, who was in a visit to Kosovo yesterday. He asked for institutions of Kosovo to help us in order for us to help you. Laws have been adopted, but corruption in high levels must be fought”, said the European diplomat.
Zbogar further added that liberalization is not an instrument to stop illegal emigration.
The EU special envoy has also mentioned other priorities, which must be in the agenda of the institutions of Kosovo.
According to Zbogar, the first priority must be the economic development, which is crucial for the solution of problems that Kosovo has.
He said that Kosovo must offer a suitable environment for foreign investors and put all its potential in action, especially in tourism. /ibna/
