Today marked the new legislative session after the summer holidays in Albania. During his speech in this parliamentary session, the head of the government, Edi Rama said that the president has attacked three national priorities.

Mentioning the reform in the justice system, Rama said that it’s a national priority and not a political wish.

Rama added that the territorial administrative reform is a national priority as an obligation of the political class in so many years.

Rama said that the president holds hearing sessions after parliament has passed the reform. According to the head of the government, these are hearings which do not justify the role of the president even formally.

“Fight against corruption is also a priority along with guaranteeing citizens a standard of safety for all the citizens. The bill on the State Police came to parliament after it was discussed with all experts that work in the police force and EU representatives”, said PM Rama.

Meta: New challenges await us

The speaker of parliament, Ilir Meta said in his opening speech that this new parliamentary session offers new and old challenges. “Parliament has been the main actor in delivering reforms. In some cases, bills have been voted by both majority and opposition during last session. The new session offers both new and old challenges”, said Meta.

He added that parliament’s responsibilities are greater due to the new status that Albania has earned.

“We’re in front of the necessity to increase tolerance, responsibility and accountability”, said Meta.

Meta also said that opposition will always be welcome to offer its contribution in this institution. /ibna/
