Leader of BDI Ahmeti: EU must engage in breaking the deadlock caused by the name dispute

Skopje, October 3, 2013

Leader of the Democratic Union for Integration (BDI) Ali Ahmeti has demanded from Brussels today for the European Union to solve the name dispute between Athens and Skopje.

According to the press statement issued by the cabinet of the leader of BDI, Ahmeti has addressed this request to the MEP on FYROM, Richard Howitt and the chairman of the Belgian parliamentary committee for foreign affairs, Xavier de Bonoea.

Ahmeti stressed the need for mobilization of all EU institutions and coordination of actions with USA and NATO in order for the region to be integrated in the NATO and EU.

“This strategic solution may only be achieved through compromise with our southern neighbor, Greece and the solution of the name dispute. Therefore, we demand direct involvement of Brussels in the process of the solution, like Brussels was engaged in the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade, but also in the agreement of March 1 in FYR Macedonia”, said leader of BDI.

Delegation of BDI will continue its agenda of meetings in Paris tomorrow. /ibna/
