A private bank was robbed at gun point by masked men, who after taking a large sum of money, disappeared in an unknown direction.
IBNA reports that on Friday afternoon, the vehicle that Union Bank uses to transport money (photo) was robbed at the center of Tirana.
IBNA learns that the perpetrators are suspected to be boys at a young age, who ambushed the armored vehicle of Union Bank, at the moment it was unloading the money at this bank.
Union Bank has not yet come out with an official statement on the robbery taken place at its head office.
Witnesses said that the robbers left along with the bank’s vehicle. Before they left, they opened fire on air.
The bank’s vehicle has been abandoned in the suburbs of the capital.
Police doesn’t yet confirm the amount that was robbed. Unofficial sources said that there were two sacks filled with money in the car.
Recently, there has been a growing number of robberies in Albania. Private banks are the target of these robberies, along with bureaus of exchange, supermarkets, commercial centers and jewelry shops. In the majority of cases, these events remain unsolved. /ibna/
